HOW IS BACTERIAL KERATITIS DIAGNOSED?

 Based on your complaints and after a comprehensive eye examination, only then will your optometrist diagnose bacterial keratitis. It usually requires prompt intervention because the cornea is one of the delicate parts of the eye. However,if not properly managed, bacterial keratitis can result in loss of vision.

TREATMENT OF BACTERIAL KERATITIS

The primary treatment for bacterial keratitis involves the use of antibiotic eye drops. The type and dosage of the eye drops prescribed by your optometrist depends on the severity of the infection. In some cases, oral antibiotics are part of the treatment plan. 

COMPLICATIONS OF BACTERIAL KERATITIS 

•  Corneal scarring 
•  Recurrent viral corneal infections 
•  Open sores on your cornea called corneal ulcers 
•  Vision loss (Blindness)
