ANTI REFLECTIVE COATING

ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATING

Imagine different scenarios, and from them, you may relate to one of these scenarios and thus get a better understanding of the topic of discussion.

Have you ever taken a phone picture wearing either prescription or non-prescription glasses; after taking the picture, you noticed the reflection of your camera’s flashlight on your glasses, spoiling your picture, I guess? For those who wear glasses at night while driving, have you ever experienced a temporary loss of focus of the view ahead because of the bright headlights from cars driving in the opposite direction? Or, while on a video call with someone wearing glasses, have you ever found it difficult to see the eyes because of the reflection of their phone screens on their glasses? When staring at digital screens for a couple of hours, do you get the irritating feeling even when wearing glasses?

If you have experienced one or all of these, that is because the glasses worn had no anti-reflective coating. It brings us to the question. What is an anti-reflective coating?

I guess we will find out in our next post.

What if you have been wearing the glasses for a whole day and finally decided to remove it but it immediately gave u this sharp loss focus for couple of minutes, what do u think can also be the problem?

  2. Dr Osazee A. says:

Thank you Mrs Uzo for the comment and question.
Well, a couples of reasons may explain that feeling; however, the most common would be that of “adaptation”. You see when we wear our glasses and our vision becomes clear, the brain gets used that that feeling of clarity, and if that feeling is abruptly cut short by removing your glasses, there will be transient blurry vision. So, it will take the brain few minutes to adapt to the new experience.

Other reasons could be tiredness, uncorrected refractive error, in adequate refractive correction, and these points to the fact that you need to be reviewed by an Optometrist.

Hopefully you can fix an appointment with us as soon as you can, so we could intervene.

    thanks once again madam.
